Hey,

I'm Rachel

During the week you can find me rocking my 40 hour corporate world job. I love my 401k W2 tax withholding job, but my real passion is photography. Pictures are tangible memories. A portal to our past. An outlet to reflect on both good and not so good memories. To capture beautiful, raw, candid moments is my goal. I chase the feeling of the childlike excitement I get when I upload a picture that tells a story or oozes emotion.

A Family Affair

I'm convinced that my love for photography is genetic. My parents met while on the board of The Light Factory, a Charlotte-based photo art center, and after getting married they opened a commercial photo lab. My uncle and godfather were photographers and I grew up going to gallery openings and hanging out at my parents lab.

It was not uncommon to find me with a camera in my hand, even at a young age. I took my first photography class as a high school sophomore. It was there that I discovered my love for processing film in the dark room and getting creative with developing techniques.

I hung up my camera once I got to college - an accidental hiatus. I had a cheap digital camera that I carried around for a little point & shoot. A few years ago my parents gifted me a Nikon DSLR for graduation. I was timid to shoot digital at first because it was so different from film. My dad showed me some basics and I started to teach myself. For the last few years, I've been the token photographer in my friend group. I've been doing shoots by word of mouth for the last few months and I think it's time to "go public".

If you're interested in booking a shoot with me or have questions, reach out! Can't wait to chat with you :)
